My Reaction to CGMA's TRO Issue

We all know about the issue regarding CGMA and the TRO that was issued to her. We all know that the Supreme Court and the Government had conflicts because of this issue and recently, CGMA was placed under Hospital Arrest. What you are about to read is my reaction to this issue.

First of all, CGMA has a condition and this is not just your pangkaraniwang condition. I forgot what this condition was called but this is a condition which according to experts, needs surgery to be corrected. For me, since the government didn't sue CGMA right away and also since her TRO was issued before she was sued, she should have been allowed to travel instead. She might have done something wrong to our country but we shouldn't be too hard on her especially na may medical condition na siya that can only be cured by surgery at hindi lang basta basta na surgery. I mean she has the right to choose her doctors pa naman, eh. Can't they just let her have her surgery abroad and have people from the NBI or Interpol or something like that look after her while she's at it to make sure that she doesn't escape and then let her return to the country after the surgery or something. We all know that she made mistakes during her administration but that doesn't mean that we can just go out there and hurt her then leave her to suffer. Remember the punching incident in Davao, we all know that the Mayor of Davao punched him and that she also made the mistake of doing it but you know what, Mayor Duterte sent the Sheriff to the hospital to be treated after the incident even though she is aware that the Sheriff disobeyed her orders. Sure that was a small incident compared to CGMA's TRO issue but that also dosen't mean that we should just deprive CGMA of her rights to choose where to seek treatment.

My final verdict: The government should allow her to seek medical treatment abroad but there should be people from the NBI or Interpol for example to look after her during the duration of her surgery to make sure that she does not attempt escaping from the hands of the government.

Here's why suspending or suing Mayor Sara Duterte over the punching incident is not a good idea.

Husband throws support on Sara Duterte
By Ben O. Tesiorna

DAVAO CITY – Lawyer Mans Carpio, husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, expressed his support to his wife as he appealed to Dabawenyos and the rest of the world to understand the real story behind the incident before making any judgment.

In his Facebook account, Mans Carpio wrote “I support my wife 100%. This is just one of the hazards of her profession.”

Carpio followed this with another post stating “To: Non-residents of Davao and most especially the Media: Please be fair. Please look into the circumstances which led to the incident before making any snide commentaries”.

It was learned that Carpio is the nephew of Judge Emmanuel Carpio of the Regional Trial Court Branch 16, the court where sheriff Abe Andres works.

Aside from punching Sheriff Andres, Mayor Duterte also hit on Judge Carpio. It was learned that Mayor Duterte personally asked Judge Carpio for a two-hour extension regarding the demolition of shanties in Suliman, Agdao.

“Pero ingon nya na dili daw nya tawagan ang sheriff. So ok lang na,” Mayor Duterte said.

When asked by a journalist for her statement regarding the “alleged” statement from the judiciary that what she did was a mockery of the justice system, Duterte said it was Carpio who mocks the whole system.

“Siya ang mockery kay sige sila’g pangayo sa syudad –pangayog allowance, pangayog job order, pangayog gasolina.P**tang ama nila! Kung makapangayo, wa tay problema. Sige, okay tabang mi, naa may kwarta, kaya man na, pangitaan natog pamaagi. Kung kami mangayog duha ka oras, mockery! Sila ang mockery,” Duterte was quoted as saying.

Even the media got a taste of Duterte’s wrath. Gani Oro of DZBB in Manila interviewed the Davao City Mayor on Friday live over the radio, the radio host was asking Mayor Duterte about the incident and opined that the mayor was placing the law in her hands because of what happened.

To this, Mayor Duterte told the announcer “alam mo, magmayor ka muna bago mo ako kausapin”, the mayor then hang up.

Dabawenyos meanwhile hailed Mayor Duterte for her courage to stand up for the poor. Duterte was christened by many as the “sucker puncher of the year”, “Evelyn Assault” after the popular movie Salt starring Angelina Jolie, and “Beastmode”.

It was learned that aside from attending to the needs of the flood victims for days now, Mayor Duterte's daughter is also admitted at the hospital since Thursday.

Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte meanwhile said that the problem in the illegal settlers in Agdao was not a legal problem but a social one which is better addressed by the mayor. The vice mayor refused to give further comments saying that he does not want to be punched by the mayor. BOT
During that week, Mayor Duterte went through a lot of stress, from the flood to her daughter being hospitalized. Isipin n'yo nga, sakali, ang anak n'yo, na-hospitalize at marami pa kayong problema aside from that all on one setting, hindi kaya kayo mag-rage mode sakaling merong mga tao na nag-papainit ng ulo n'yo at the same time? Tao lang rin siya and she can go to rage mode when put under too much stress. What kind of mother would ignore her child, what kind of mayor would ignore her people? She's an extraordinary mayor, she was able to balance being a mom and a mayor at the same time, what caused her to punch the Sheriff is due to stress and the fact that a lot needed her help at that time, the flood victims needed her, the people living in that certain squatters area needed her and there were a lot more concerns that she had to face at that time, of course she'd get pissed if someone went in her way, especially if it involves her people being driven out of their homes before the 30-day grace period ended and left homeless. My point is, she doesn't have to be suspended for that, at least, she sent the sheriff to the hospital afterwards, if she were heartless, she would leave the sheriff to suffer instead of having him treated for whatever injuries he sustained. (and mind you, he got minor injuries so it's not a big deal at some point, though) She shouldn't be sued or disbarred either. She should just get a small reprimandation if the government has to impose sanctions on her.

To her probably clueless critics: You know what, no matter how much criticisms you throw towards her, no matter how much you try putting her down, she'll still be herself, she'll still be the Inday Sara who is pro-poor, who is a loving mother not just to her own daughter but also to the citizens of her city. I don't know if your mayors are just as good as her but one thing for sure, Inday Sara is a one-of-a-kind mayor, one that is apart from those TRAPOs who make fake promises and buy votes just to win the elections and use their power for their own interests.

Final note: Though I might have posted this a bit late already but I think there's still a need to post this since until now, DILG hasn't made a decision on what sanctions to impose to Mayor Sara Duterte or whether the issue has been solved.

Duterte: Flashing dirty finger an exercise of freedom of expression|My reaction to this issue

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said Wednesday he was not inclined to immediately answer the Office of the Ombudsman, which has asked him to explain why he flashed a dirty finger on TV last month.
In fact, Duterte said, he would not hesitate do it again if provoked because that was part of his freedom of expression.
“Yes, there will be more dirty fingers if I am disgusted and angry,” Duterte told reporters.
He said the Office of the Ombudsman recently sent him a letter to explain his action. His son, Councilor Paolo Duterte, who also flashed a dirty finger, was also being asked to explain his action.
“I am being asked to explain it. I want to write my own reply. I personally want to pen it. But now, my reply is just a smile,” said the vice mayor, known for his feisty nature and cussing in public.
Duterte maintained that flashing a dirty finger was “an exercise of my protected speech… it is my right which is covered by my right to free expression.”
Read the rest of the article here:
We pretty much know a lot about this issue, from punching incident involving the Mayor of Davao to the Dirty Finger Incident of the Vice Mayor and his son to their critics. Here's my take on the issue:
First of all, Vice Mayor Duterte of Davao City is just a human, we shouldn't judge him too quickly for flashing the dirty finger, in fact, you guys should be thankful that it got blurred on TV and I don't even think most children knew about this unless you made them watch News & Current Affairs programs all the time or something (common sense: most kids spend time watching MYX/MTV or Cartoons and they even spend most of their free time playing games on Facebook and not watching the News) and I don't think most children would do the dirty finger even if they claim to have seen it so many times you know. (unless you're one of those irresponsible parents who don't teach their kids between what's right and wrong) Anyway, we shouldn't make a big deal about this issue, their leaders over there are not as corrupt as those other TRAPOs out there. (take the president before PNoy for example) He has a right to freedom of expression and yes, since we're all humans, we make mistakes sometimes when we exercise our freedom to expression. We cannot stop mistakes from happening you know, it's human nature for those who don't have enough common sense to weigh in to issues like this. My point, you ask? We should just forgive him for doing it, tao lang rin siya, he also makes mistakes like all of us. Tell me, haven't you commited a mistake yet? If your answer is no, then you shouldn't make a big deal over this issue as if it's worse as the rigging of the 2004 elections or Maguindanao Massacre. The dirty finger incident is just a small incident, sure it may have affected some people emotionally but again, it's just a small incident, it's not really that big. As the popular saying goes "Bato bato sa langit, ang matamaan, 'wag magalit", therefore if you are one of the critics, then you totally deserved it. The only issues that we obviously should make a big deal of is the 2004 elections fraud (since this screwed up our government) and the Maguindanao Massacre Case. (around 50 or more people if I am right were killed there by warfreak politicians who is now in jail, of course) Conclusion? We shouldn't make a big deal out of the dirty finger incident, it's just a small mistake made by a human being. Just because someone is popular doesn't mean that he or she won't commit mistakes. Tao pa rin siya. He's not God. Only God doesn't make mistakes. Tayo ay tao lamang, artista man o hindi, politiko man o hindi, we still make mistakes.
Before I end this post, I would like to say that I'm a proud supporter of Mayor Sara Duterte & Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte of Davao City. Though I'm not from Davao, I still admire them for doing good governance towards their city. If it wasn't for them, Davao wouldn't be a successful city that it is today, If it wasn't for them, there wouldn't be any more foreign investors & foreign tourists who would come to the Philippines especially in Mindanao. They are also one of the reasons why the Philippines is progressive you know. Bawat isa sa atin ay may kakayahan upang gawing progresibo ang ating bansa, it's up to us to use our abilities to bring fame or shame to this nation.

Sumuko ka na kasi! Ang tigas mo talaga.

We are all familiar with the issue going on in PCSO. No, this is not about the Bishops. Case closed na yung sa mga Bishops. It's about Margie Juico, the head of PCSO who has been a houshold name since the 2nd week of July. People have been calling her to resign like for almost a week or so. She commited prejury ngunit ayaw pa rin mag-resign. In fact, she's obviously corrupt. She even charged her groceries and even her sanitary napkins, sanitary napkins na yan ha, to PCSO. It really did happen, basahin n'yo na lang ito: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/22893

I as well as those other folks there who want her to resign are calling her to resign from her post, not just for the sake of justice but also to protect her reputation. (if she stays in office, the more na may mag.batikos sa kanya)

Kasali pala ako sa Margie Juico RESIGN Movement, it's a group on Facebook, open group. If you want to join the movement, you're free to join since open group siya. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/groups/146892868719037?ap=1

Abangan n'yo ang next post ko. Magandang Gabi sa Lahat!

Adventures in PEX (Pinoy Exchange Forums)

I went foruming kaniha doon sa PEX (Pinoy Exchange Forums), the last time I logged in there was like a month ago or so. Anyway, una kong binisitahan yung forum nila para sa mga News & Current Affairs. I went from thread to thread, actually, it was fun. I even landed on a thread about the punching incident involving the Mayor of Davao & a court sheriff which took place last July 1. (pasensya na lang if I'm talking about politics here for those readers who didn't expect it to be one of my posts) Anyway, eto nga yung take ko sa issue na yun eh, generally, mali silang dalawa, first off, doon sa sheriff, he didn't follow the mayor's orders which were done for humanitarian reasons and he even violated the 30-day grace period (this is the time where the residents who are asked to leave the area are given time to move out of the place or something before demolition comes) 'coz he served the order before the 30-day grace period ended. The only thing wrong w/ what the mayor did though was dahil nanapak siya. Going deeper to this issue, I don't think Mayor Duterte should be kicked out of office, get suspended or be disbarred. Siguro, her sanction should just be a reprimandation from DILG. Bakit? Hindi naman masyadong malaki yung kasalanan n'ya eh, sure she punched the sheriff but guess what? Instead of leaving him behind to suffer in pain due to the injuries, she had him sent to the hospital upang ma.gamot yung mga sugat na natamo n'ya which were just minor injuries so not much of a big deal naman eh. Second, yung pag.dirty finger ng Vice Mayor ng Davao, (who is also the Mayor's father) CHR made a big deal about it as if it was just as worse as Maguindanao Massacre or those other cases of extrajudicial killings. Dirty Finger lang yun, not much of a big deal at pasalamat nga kayo at na blurred yun sa TV. If DILG were to sanction the Vice Mayor of Davao because of this, sana reprimandation lang rin yung maging sanction n'ya. Yung ibang OA kasi na mga tao diyan, they keep on looking at the negative side of the Dutertes, may positive side naman sila eh, kung hindi dahil sa kanila, multinational companies might not open offices in Davao pero see, they had the confidence to open offices in Davao which is in Mindanao even though some people think Mindanao is dangerous and this is also one of the things which made Philippines more progressive. Yung disbarment, I think IBP shouldn't file that case on the Mayor of Davao since she wasn't practicing law at that time the incident happened. In conclusion, if the Mayor & Vice Mayor of Davao were to be sanctioned, reprimandation is the most appropriate sanction for them and at least their mayor cares about the people unlike those other TRAPOs there who practice "pakitang-tao" to win people's votes during the elections and in the middle of their term, they seem to do nothing.

Note: Hindi ako taga Davao but I am still from Mindanao. (hindi ko na sasabihin kung saan mismo basta nasa Mindanao) Hindi naman bawal mag.support sa kakapwa mo, diba? Sorry kung medyo late na ako nag-post about this issue. Busy kasi ako for the past few days.

Anyway, on the other side, PEX related pa rin ha. I dropped by the Britney Spears Official Thread on PEX and yup, may over 10+ official threads na si Britney doon. Talk about how famous Britney is. In fact, her thread is so trending that it's always on the front page of the Fanpage Fiesta threads and it's part of the top 10 most visited threads in Fanpage Fiesta. BTW, nakapagboto na ba kayo for Britney sa VMAs at TCAs? Kung hindi pa, start voting na! Ngayong July 26 na pala ang Repurchase Week ng Blackout kaya buy your copies of Blackout and lets make it #1 on Billboard Top 200! Britney Spears FTW! Blackout FTW!
